Five Android releases in October: reminders that ring, bills from templates, share into EasyDooo
Five releases went out between 2.1.20 and 2.1.24. Each has its own notes on the releases page; this is the shape of the month in one place, for anyone deciding whether to update. The short answer: yes, for the reminders alone.
2.1.20: reminders you can trust
Android phones hold reminders back in ways that look like the app failing: battery optimisation, the Alarms and reminders permission, a phone maker's own power settings. Settings now has a Reminder check that shows whether this phone can hold reminders back, with a button to fix each cause, and a test reminder that rings in a minute so you can see it work. With Alarms and reminders allowed, a reminder rings on the minute, and a reminder for a task with a time comes back once, two hours later, if you did nothing with it.
Also in this release: a task can repeat a number of days after you mark it done, for a gas cylinder or a water filter, under Repeat, After done. Recurring budget entries show under Subscriptions again, with missed months added for you.
2.1.21: where the money came from
A budget Entry can record what it was paid from: bank, card, UPI on a credit card, cash and more, with the account, and the Budget screen shows this month's spending per payment source. Refunds are their own thing now: record money back as a Refund, or open an expense and tap Record a refund of this. It brings that category back down and is not counted as income.
2.1.22: share into EasyDooo
From any app, share a text, an email or a PDF to EasyDooo. Read it suggests a task, an expense, income or a note for you to check before it is saved, or you can save the text as a note straight away. Read it uses one AI action, and nothing you shared is kept after it is read.
2.1.23 and 2.1.24: bills and dues
Bills and dues arrive on the Budget screen: bills, credit card dues, subscriptions, EMIs, SIPs, insurance and tax dates, each reminding you ahead of its date through a task in Tasks. Paid records the payment with its category and payment source and schedules the next one; for a bill whose amount changes, it asks what you paid.
- Templates in 2.1.24: credit card, loan EMI, SIP, subscription, insurance, electricity, mobile or broadband, rent, school fees, advance tax, income tax return. Each fills in the repeat and the reminders.
- A bill can carry a checklist, added as steps to each payment's task. The income tax return template lists the documents to gather.
- A loan or SIP can remind you to fund the account a few days before.
- A subscription can record when its free trial ends, with a reminder two days before, and how to cancel it.
